Trumpet and Piano duo Imogen Hancock and Jennifer Hughes were chosen as Park Lane Group Artists for the 2015-16 Season.


This was the 60th Anniversary Year for the Park Lane Group and Imogen and Jennifer featured in two recitals in April 2016 at St John's Smith Square.

These recitals presented works by two of the Season's chosen composers: James MacMillan and Sally Beamish.

Jennifer Hughes (born 1987) is an instrumental duo partner and song pianist. Based in London, she has performed across Europe at venues including the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Oslo Opera House, St John’s Smith Square, St James’s Piccadilly and live on BBC Radio 3. She has also appeared at the Moscow Festival, BBC Proms, City of London Festival and Bergen International Festival.

Jennifer has been awarded the Royal Overseas League Accompanist’s Prize, the AESS Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition Accompanist’s Prize, the Joaninha Trust Accompanist’s Prize, the Titanic Memoriam Prize (RCM), and an award from the Geoffrey Parsons Memorial Trust. She is also a Park Lane Group Artist.

Jennifer is Duo Coach for the String Department at the Royal College of Music. She also accompanies and coaches students at Aldeburgh Young Musicians, New Virtuosi Mastercourse and Voksenasen Summer Academy.

She studied with Hilary Coates as a DfES Scholar at Wells Cathedral School and later at the Royal College of Music with John Blakely and Roger Vignoles. Her studies were supported by the Draper’s Company, Henry Wood Trust, Help Musicians UK and the Worshipful Company of Founders. Jennifer also held the Gilbert and Eileen Edgar Junior Fellowship in piano accompaniment at the RCM.
